Pipeline

Another fine afternoon working with The Pipeline, an organisation that runs development programmes for senior female executives.

The photo shoot was so that participants had great photos for their bios something they never had the time to fix. It was a pleasant diversion from the hard work of the programme during one of the evening breaks. It was tremendous fund and a great bonding experience.

Thanks to Jessie Barker for the make-up

Below are a couple of snaps of Elizabeth Jenkin and Elsa Critchley who normally don't like having their photo taken

British Manufacturing and staying in the EU

There is a sustained argument within the leave campaign that, as we are the 5th largest economy, we can stand alone.

This could well be the case, but as Germany is the 4th and France the 6th, there is a greater argument that we are stronger in the EU.

And with regard to manufacturing output, the UK is 11th, behind Germany, Italy and France, but as a combined group the EU is on parity with China at the top, above The US.

Again a stance for remaining in the EU.

I produced a book relating to British manufacturing a couple of years ago and it was very revealing to discover how broad, innovative, large and connected the manufacturing sector is in the UK.

Below are a selection of the images from the book, and a few more here

Nick Robinson and Dr Julia Selby with Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists

I covered this RCSLT event on Thursday evening; a truly heartfelt, emotional, brave and inspiring reaccount of Nick Robinson's recovery of his voice after cancer.

Also speaking was Dr Julia Selby, clinical lead speech and language therapist for voice, ENT and respiratory services at Royal Brompton, who helped him through this difficult period.

Nick has written a book about his experience, 'Election Notebook: The Inside Story Of The Battle Over Britain's Future And My Personal Battle To Report It'.
